Valentine's Day Approaches: Some Recommended Free Dating Sites

Valentine's Day is just around the corner, but this recession has many single Americans thinking about job security and their savings account when many would rather be thinking about the best way to find the perfect mate. So it's a good thing that high quality, 100% free online dating sites still exist.

If you haven't tried OKCupid.com yet, you should stop by the site and take it for a spin. It's 100% free and the site has more than 3,000,000 singles with profiles. OKCupid.com is the nation's biggest free online dating site, and it helps bring more than 100,000 people together each year.

Sam Yagan, co-founder of OKCupid.com, is also the creative force behind CrazyBlindDate.com. So, what's so "crazy" about it, you ask? Here you go:

"...In 8 cities across the country including New York City, Los Angeles, Boston, Chicago, Washington, DC, Austin, San Francisco and Atlanta, singles post no profile, no picture and only input basic information including the type of person they want to meet, where they'd like to go and when they want to meet. Then, CrazyBlindDate.com does the rest! Within a few hours you could be meeting someone new for coffee or a cocktail with nothing to lose. There's no better way to get over a break up than by quickly meeting someone new..."
Me likey!

The above quote is from a recent press release. Enjoy!

Hohoho, I love CrazyBlindDate.com!

You go to the website and fill out a profile. It’s minimal things such as age and race, but no pictures or anything. It asks about date locations and when you’d be available. That's it.

A few days later, I got an email that said there was a 25-year old woman and that she was tall. Umm, yummy! And of course, I accepted the date. I had put Dupont and Kalorama as two of my locations, but they sent us to a place in Adams Morgan, so I had to take the Metro and a bus.

I texted my date to let her know I was on my way but that I’d be late because of the train/bus thing. No reply. Duh. I texted her a few more times with no reply. Duh (again). I was worried I was being stood up. When I got to the bar, she wasn’t there.

Okay, maybe the traffic. So I ordered a drink and sat down. Finally, she showed up! She didn’t get any of my messages and she couldn’t message me either. It turned out that the messaging system wasn’t working at all.

I'm telling you, CrazyBlindDate is definitely crazy. :)

I agree there’s a high ratio of men to women, but I don’t know why that surprises anyone. Seems expected to me—although many women love sex, there do seem to be a lot more guys that are ok with swinging or casual sex than girls, for whatever reasons, and that’s not specific to O4L.
