Don't Let Another One Get Away!
It's happened to all of us. You meet someone briefly by accident; you're interested, but a brazen introduction and offer to "get together" is just a bit too awkward. Well, what if you could give that hot stranger a card with your "nickname" on it and the address of a website where he/she could look you up and contact you if the attraction is mutual. The card would contain just enough info for the job, and not too much so as to jeopardize your privacy.
That's the idea behind a PeekABio.com. You can scan profiles and email members for free; premium membership costs $29.95 a year. More details can be found below in the snippet from yesterday's press release:

"'Have you ever met a total stranger you really clicked with and the next thing you know, poof, like two ships passing in the night they were gone and out of your life forever?' asked Jim Lofton, creator of PeekaBio.com.
'It may have happened in a store, restaurant, or on the metro. You started to talk when she borrowed your pen, and the next thing you know it was time to go. You both walked away wondering what might have been,' Lofton said.
Lofton created PeekaBio.com after noticing the regular columns in major newspapers headed, 'You caught my eye, Missed Connections, and I saw you' where singles take a long shot. Most ads read: me—short blonde with green sweater; you—tall, dark, handsome in blue suit—we talked at Starbuck’s Tuesday--call me please.
PeekaBio.com members are given a simple solution to this familiar problem in the form of a 'Peek' card containing their name, 'handle' and no other personal information. This card is presented to someone they would like to know better. Recipients can then go to the site and view the member’s unedited, uncensored profile, and email them anonymously through the site if they’re interested. 'It’s like your own private dating service,' said Lofton.
PeekaBio.com’s survey also discovered professional singles feel they don’t have time to troll through member profiles in online dating services. Lack of privacy was another common complaint about online romance. Up to 53% of those using online dating services choose not to post their picture.
'Our site answers the old problem of missed connections, and the new problem of lack of privacy,' Lofton said.
PeekaBio.com members also use the site as a complement to traditional online dating services by giving out their handle online when someone requests a picture or more personal information the member might not want the general public to see. 'Let’s face it, most everyone wants to see your picture and rightfully so, and if a man has no picture he’ll no responses,' said Lofton. 'Many of our members also belong to other online dating services and choose to post their pictures only on our site for privacy.'
PeekaBio.com members can write or post anything they want in their online profiles, no matter how intimate or personal, because it’s viewable only by people they give their handle to. 'When a PeekaBio.com member gives out their handle, they’ve given one person a chance to learn more about them and contact them anonymously before they make a decision,' Lofton said.
'Women have told us they feel much safer giving out the Peek card instead of their phone or business card, and men have told us giving the card makes it easier to approach a woman, and they reach women that might not be using a dating service,' Lofton said.
'If you give someone you’ve just met a traditional business card you’ve given them too much information. You might not want those personal calls or emails going through your company’s system. With PeekaBio.com your personal contact info stays that way until you decide otherwise, and you can block email or change your handle at will,' said Lofton. 'Who wants to come home to a rabbit boiling in the kitchen?'
PeekaBio.com premium membership including the profile is $29.95 per year, and visitors can view profiles and email members for free."
